I kept track of my hours and each week recorded these hours onto a calendar posted on the adjacent door. Many hours were required at the beginning, but few were required throughout the year, especially since people were less likely to use the wall knowing that I would have to repair it.  The seemingly generous act of my maintenance became more complex as I was perceived as having ownership of the wall.
